The JRC is the scientific service of the European Commission and supports the EU with independent research and scientific advice for political decisions. We were particularly pleased about the participation of one of our most important customers, with whom we have already had intensive discussions about the requirements of the Battery Regulation in the past.
EU battery regulation in focus
The visit was a valuable opportunity to discuss the practical implementation of the requirements of the Battery Regulation with the European Commission. One particularly important topic was the digital battery passport, for which we are currently developing a prototype. This is intended to play a central role in the traceability of batteries. Another topic was the removability and replaceability of batteries in our products - a challenge that affects many manufacturers.
Outlook: Still on course
An important point of the meeting was the offer to get involved in the consultation process on the further development of the regulation in the future. This process makes it possible to incorporate different perspectives and specialist knowledge into the development of further regulations. It is important that we participate in this process in order to ensure that they are practical and feasible.
In the coming months, we will continue to work on innovative solutions to make our processes and products sustainable and fit for the future. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and are excited about the next steps in this important area.
The exchange with the EU delegation confirmed that we are well positioned with our projects and initiatives to meet the requirements of the Battery Regulation. We are not only prepared to meet these requirements, but also to contribute our expertise and experience to the design of future directives.
